The State Journal reports that Gov. Andy Beshear today filed a 45-page response to the impeachment petition, "casting the petitioners as 'unhappy political activists' and asserting that his actions to curb the spread of COVID-19 were unanimously supported by the Kentucky Supreme Court.

If memory serves, Impeachment Committee Chairman Jason Nemes instructed the Governor to withhold his response from the public until after the petitioners responded. Nemes cited no legal authority for the treatment of the Governor's response as anything other than an open, public record upon submission.
The Governor apparently recognized that there was no legal basis for, and no legitimate policy advanced by, enforced secrecy which was directly at odds with the chairman's professed commitment to transparency in the proceedings.
