Frankfort State Journal government reporter and Kentucky Open Government Coalition co-director, Austin Horn, made his first appearance on Comment on Kentucky. The program aired on Friday, October 29, and will again air on Sunday, October 31, at 1 pm.

Austin deftly responded to host Bill Bryant's questions about upcoming special elections, redistricting, and the search for a new president at Kentucky State University.

The State Journal has aggressively pursued stories relating to KSU's administrative and financial crisis through the use of the open records law.

This week, the Kentucky State University Foundation sued the State Journal following a favorable ruling the newspaper obtained from the Office of the Attorney General. That ruling affirmed the Foundation's status as a public agency under the open records law.

The State Journal's — and Austin's — commitment to open government, and the effective use of both the open records and open meetings laws, distinguish it among community newspapers.

This will likely be the first of many appearances by Austin on KET's longest running public affairs program, Comment on Kentucky.
